Cautions

  • Do not use with hot liquids. Additionally, avoid washing with boiling water to prevent the glass from cracking due to sudden temperature changes.
  • Please dry the glass immediately after washing. Allowing it to air-dry can cause lime scale (water spots) from tap water to adhere to the surface, affecting its clarity and luster.
  • The rim of the glass is extremely thin. Please handle it with care and avoid applying excessive pressure when wiping or polishing.
  • Avoid using a dishwasher. High-pressure water or abrasive detergent particles can cause fine scratches, eventually leading to a cloudy or whitened appearance.
  • Thin-blown glasses are prone to cracking if bumped. When making a toast, please avoid clinking glasses together to maintain the integrity of the piece.

The story begins with a radio programme.

At the same time each week, Haruya Hiroshima—a Kiriko glass artist from Ishikawa Prefecture—found himself captivated by the sounds drifting from the radio: the clinking of glasses, the presence of a stoic bartender, the gentlemen listening intently at the counter, and the candid exchanges between regulars. This profound yearning for the world of the "bar" sowed a seed in his heart, long before he finally stepped into that long-awaited sanctuary.

"The bartender maintains a perfect distance from the guests; the shelves are lined with crystal-clear glassware. The bar is a mysterious sanctuary where one can speak frankly about things seldom touched upon in daily life."

This evocative scene, where fine spirits meet exquisite vessels, became the soul of his creative pursuit, "h collection". Later, he chanced upon the AVANTI COCKTAIL BOOK, a volume published by the same programme. The intricate Kiriko glassware featured within perfectly mirrored the world he had once only imagined, further solidifying his devotion to the craft. He went on to study under Czech master glassmakers at the Toyama City Institute of Glass Art, refining the techniques of precision cutting and hand-polishing. From the initial sketch to the meticulous polishing of every single cut, each step is dedicated to achieving a texture that is as sophisticated as it is warm.

Hiroshima’s work is designed specifically for those who cherish the art of fine drinking. Rather than grand opulence, he seeks to weave a sense of stillness into the finer details of everyday life.

"Whether at the end of an exhausting day or on a cherished anniversary, I aspire to create vessels that resonate with your heart and offer a gentle presence."

When you hold one of Hiroshima’s glasses, feeling its tempered texture and observing the delicate interplay of light and shadow, it is as if you are seated at that late-night bar counter—finding, amidst the soft glow, a moment of serene companionship.
